Stainless steel appliances have received a lot of attention in the past few years. Everything from large appliances like stoves and refrigerators to small countertop appliances like can openers and coffee makers are being manufactured using stainless steel. The coffee press was bound to appear in a stainless steel model if for no other reason than to complement the kitchen that was designed using stainless steel appliances. The good news for coffee lovers is that there are more reasons than beauty to purchase a stainless steel coffee press.

The stainless steel coffee press keeps coffee hotter longer than other models. Glass and plastic models of the French press do not keep coffee or tea hot for much longer than it would take to pour and drink. However, stainless steel models are typically made of double walled stainless steel which provides a thermal wrapping to the French press and helps keep the beverage hot.

Coffee press designers are taking advantage of the thermal properties of stainless steel in addition to its aesthetic popularity. The thermal properties are allowing them to make the coffee press in larger sizes than they would in a traditional coffee press without thermal properties. It is not uncommon to see eight and even twelve cup coffee presses on the market that is made out of stainless steel. These coffee press brewers are attractive on a counter top and don’t have to be stored away in the cabinet.

The stainless steel coffee press makes a lovely after dinner presentations for coffee service. Many high end restaurants use the French press to serve coffee simply because of the presentation. Using a stainless steel coffee press adds to the presentation and makes a stunning visual display for dinner guests. Restaurants know that their guests are willing to pay more when they receive more, such as a display of craft much like having a flambé dessert served tableside.

The stainless steel coffee press does not have to be used in restaurants nor does it have to be a large version of the coffee press. There are small stainless steel coffee presses that are used by individuals who simply prefer the look of stainless steel over that of glass or plastics. The stainless steel models do not show coffee stains on the interior like the glass and plastic models do. Regardless of how often a French press is cleaned, any material that is exposed to coffee or tea on a daily basis will eventually have stains from the beverage.

A stainless steel coffee maker is no different and the interior will have stains over time; however, the stainless steel material is not opaque and the coffee drinker or dinner guests will not see into the pot to see the stains. Many people prefer the stainless steel simply for this reason, it is aesthetically more pleasing.

The stainless steel coffee press offers many advantages over other types of coffee press and at the same makes the full-flavored, aromatic coffee that only a French press can make.
